Treo/Centro can do everything...
Since the development of navigation systems, it helps to safely find destinations without struggling with maps, hassle free bypassing of rush hours and navigation systems can reduce gas consumption because of short route driving. GPS is a damn good thing!
The finding of targets is its intended use and thus it is no wonder that the first portable key sized NTP GPS receiver
hit the market, which is able to bring you back to your car in case you
have lost track. By a button press, it stores the current GPS position
and on another button press can later navigate you back to it.
Moreover, it can be a GPS data logger, storing up to 100.000 GPS positions. This is good for geotagging of photos.
I wonder, why all of these features draws my attention that much, because this is what every Treo/Centro user can have anyways for years.
What you need is:
(A) Palm Treo (or Centro) Smartphone
(B) BT GPS Mouse with (single button press) Data logger, such as Wintec BT-201 (Review )
The
things are easyily set up. Powered on, the Wintec GPS receiver connects
via BT to the Palm smartphone and within the navigation system TomTom , the user defines a new favorite called "parking" or so. That's it. Take the Smartphone and GPS receiver with you and go shopping.
Once
you want to find the way back to your car, power the GPS receiver on
again and set TomTom to navigate in pedastrian mode back to the car.
This ensures that you use streets and pedestrian zones as well as
one-ways rather than motor- or highways (car navigation mode).
Also
geotagging is easy with the Wintec GPS receiver. At every single buttn
press the Mouse stores the current GPS position. Pressing the button at
every photo you take, you have a perfect log book of all GPS positions
stored. Back at home you combine the GPS tracklog with the photos,
which can be easily done by a PC software. That's it.
